About the club
The Orleans Volleyball Club has been playing together since 2010, and this is our sixth season as a league. Many of the players have known each other for years.
To keep things balanced, every team plays a 5-1 and a similar defence, so players can move between teams and the skill level stays even. The organizer is happy to help with coaching and team strategy. Just ask!
Teams and captains keep in touch on WhatsApp, in groups run by volunteers, so you'll want WhatsApp on your phone.

Frequently asked questions
Joining
How do I join?
Registration is by team. The captain creates an account and registers the team on the registration page, then shares the team's invite link. Each player creates their own account, signs the league waiver online and joins with that link.
I don't have a team. Can I still play?
Yes. Create a player account and send us a message to go on the reserves list. We'll put you in touch with teams that need a spare or a player. Fees may be waived for reserves depending on the circumstances.
What level is the league?
Advanced recreational. Every team runs a 5-1 or 6-2, so you should know your rotations and be able to pass, set, hit, serve overhand and block with some consistency. It's not a league for beginners. See the skill requirements.
Is it co-ed?
Yes. Each team needs at least 2 women and 2 men on the court.
How old do I need to be?
18 or older. Exceptions are possible for strong younger players; send us a message.
Cost
How much does it cost?
$1,260 per team for the whole season (September to May). With a full roster of 8, that's about $160 per player. Current fees and due dates are on the registration page.
How do we pay?
The captain pays for the whole team by e-Transfer: a $300 deposit to hold the team's spot, then the balance by the due date. Captains collect from their own players.
Can I get a refund?
Refunds must be requested within 2 weeks of the season start. You'll get back the per-night value of the remaining nights, less 15%. Details are in the terms & conditions.
Game night
When and where do we play?
Tuesday nights at Fallingbrook Community Elementary School, 679 Deancourt Crescent, Orléans. The gym opens at 6:30 PM. Early games warm up at 7:00 and start at 7:15; late games warm up at 8:15 and start at 8:30. The gym closes at 9:45 PM.
How many games do we play each night?
Your team plays one match of 3 sets, in either the early or the late slot, and usually referees one other match. Your times and refereeing duties are on the schedule.
Who referees?
The teams do. Show up on time for your assigned match: ref no-shows are recorded in the standings.
What should I bring?
Non-marking indoor shoes, a water bottle and clothes you can move in. Volleyballs are provided.
What if I can't make it, or our team is short?
Tell your captain as early as you can. Teams can bring a spare of similar skill level. If you're short at start time, borrow a temporary spare until your players arrive, or play with fewer players. See spares and short-handed teams.
What if a night is cancelled?
We post it in the banner at the top of this site, on the schedule and in the captains' WhatsApp group.
Scores & standings
How are scores entered?
After the match, a captain enters the score on this site and the other captain confirms it. Scores become final once confirmed, or automatically after 48 hours.
How do standings work?
By sets won, so every set counts. Ties are broken by point differential. At the end of the season, every team plays in the playoffs.
Other
Do I need WhatsApp?
It's strongly recommended. Teams and captains use WhatsApp groups to organize, find spares and share updates.
